The first time I saw her, she was on the stage.
From that moment on, I never looked away.
For Sakshee - Mother's Day 2026
Chapter One
She was performing Off-Broadway the first time I saw her. I watched her from the audience and thought: whoever she is, I need to know her.
She was born in Nepal, raised in Mumbai and came to New York with something you can't teach - a presence. A certainty about who she is. She moved through that city the way she moves through everything: with determination and grace, without apology.
We found each other in the middle of the most electric city on earth. The pandemic came and the streets emptied. It was just the two of us in New York. We chose each other, over and over, through all of it.
माया - Love. In Nepali, it sounds like exactly what it means.
She carries herself like she belongs
to every ancient thing.
Egypt - Valley of the Kings
Chapter Two
Across the US. Hot air balloons over Luxor at sunrise. The Taj Mahal at dawn. The gold souk in Dubai. Paris in autumn, and a moment I had planned for months.
She was radiant in every country, in every light. She has the rare quality of making every place feel like it was made for her.

Some mornings you rise
above everything.
Luxor, Egypt - Sunrise
Chapter Three
I had planned it for months. I got down on one knee in Paris. She looked at me like I was the only person in the entire city.
"She said yes. And everything else fell into place."
Chapter Four
Our wedding wasn't planned the way most are. It came quickly, in a hard season, with family scattered across continents and so much improvised at the last moment.
But she wore her culture like she was born for it — and as we walked the seven circles around the fire, her joy was the only thing in the room. Watching her find that joy through everything she was carrying remains the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
"However we got there, she got there glowing. I'd do all of it again just to see her like that."
विवाह - Bibāha. Sacred union.
Before Rayna arrived,
she was already a mother.
Florida - Expecting Rayna
Chapter Five
Mother. The word Rayna will learn first.
She became a mother the same way she does everything - fully, completely, without holding anything back. She held Rayna in the first hours of her life with a calm that could only come from someone who had already decided this was the most important thing she would ever do.
Rayna has her mother's eyes. And already, her mother's fire. She is going to be extraordinary - because she wakes up every morning watching an extraordinary woman.
The way Sakshee loves Rayna is the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed.
आफ्नो बाटो आफैँ बनाउने -
She makes her own path.
Mother's Day - May 2026
To Sakshee -
the woman who made me understand
what it means to really see someone.
I met you on a stage in New York. You were playing someone else, and somehow that's how I learned who you were - there was no hiding it, even inside another person's lines. I didn't know you yet. I knew I would.
We've traveled the world together - Egypt at dawn, India to walk the land you came from, the UAE to explore somewhere new on my birthday, Paris in summer. In every one of those places, you were the thing I couldn't look away from. Not because of how you look. Because of who you are in every room you walk into.
I got down on one knee in Paris. You looked at me the way you look at everything you love - all the way in, no part held back. I've been chasing that look ever since.
Then came Rayna. And I watched something open in you that only you knew was there. You held her the first day and looked at her like you'd known her forever. Because you had.
You are a great artist. A great role model. A great friend, daughter, partner. But the thing you do best - the thing I'll tell Rayna about when she's old enough to understand - is love. You love the way you do everything: all the way in, no part held back. Our daughter will spend her whole life knowing exactly what that feels like.
You are a great mother.
Thank you for New York. For every country we've stood in together. For Paris. For Rayna. For being exactly, completely, unapologetically you.
तिमीलाई माया गर्छु - I love you. Always.
